The Middle Ages
I thought I'd live like a king
In the middle ages
Surrounded by archers in poses
And jesters with roses
Harlequins with faces
From dark distant places
But these days I just don't know
How middle aged I grow
And I thought that I would be free
By the middle ages
But children with school runs and worries
And bedtimes and stories
And doctor's appointments
And adolescent hormones
And sometimes I just don't know
How middle age is so
'Cause it feels like reading a book
Without and pages
In the middle ages
In thе middle ages
And I thought that you'd be my queen
In thе middle ages
Surrounded by flowered engagements
Not weirdness and strangeness
Or lawyers with papers
And separation orders
And Jesus I just don't know
How middle age got so
And I'm here in the eye of a storm
That silently rages
In the middle ages
In the middle ages
And I always thought I'd be a king
In the middle ages
